Frequently Asked Questions

  • The cost of your sessions depends on how you choose to pay. Karen is an in-network provider for several insurances and will provide you with an estimated cost prior to your first session. Some insurances also accept proof of payment, also known as a superbill, and will reimburse you for the cost of sessions. We will gladly provide you with a superbill if needed. If you don’t have insurance or would prefer not to use it we have cash pay options as well. Cash pay rates vary depending on the therapist. Individual sessions with Karen cost $150 for individuals and $175 for couples. The Highland Roots LPC-Associates offer income based sliding scale payment options starting at $75.

  • The first session is geared toward getting to know each other. Your therapist will gather information for you and will answer questions you have about the therapeutic process. Your therapist will be trained to provide the safest, most effective treatment and environment for your specific case, so you can trust that no matter how your first session goes, it's an important step in working toward your goals.

  • Therapy is a time for you to talk about whatever is on your mind. Individual therapy works by allowing you to dedicate time to exploring your thoughts and feelings in a neutral, non-judgmental environment. It gives you time to think about yourself and learn more about what could be causing you to feel challenged by areas of your life and how to address these challenges in a healthy, productive way.

  • You may cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours in advance. If you cancel or reschedule less than 48 hours before your session or if you do not attend your session as scheduled us you will be responsible for the full cost of the session. Sessions will not be held if you arrive more than 10 minutes late. Multiple instances of cancellation, non-attendance or lateness may result in your therapist releasing your spot on their caseload at which point services may no longer be available.
